Privacy & Disclosure Notice

The protection of your personal data is important to us

This text is a disclosure statement prepared within the scope of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (PDPL). Its final version will be reviewed by the association's legal advisor before coming into effect.

1. Data Controller

Your personal data is processed by the Law, Technology and Art Association ("Association") that operates the Turkish World Lawyers Platform, in its capacity as data controller, within the framework explained below.

Contact: turkiclaw@lawtechart.org

2. Personal Data Being Processed

The following data may be processed during platform membership and communication processes:

  • Identity and contact information: name and surname, e-mail, country, city
  • Professional information: profession/title, areas of expertise, areas of law, known languages, LinkedIn/social media
  • Messages and application contents you submit
  • Technical data: timestamp and consent records created during application/communication

3. Processing Purposes

  • Creation of platform membership and establishment of a communication network among lawyers
  • Definition of access rights to member-exclusive tools (Aksakal AI Legal Assistant, Otağ Visit Network, Üleş Project Dashboard, etc.)
  • Sharing of events, publications and announcements; evaluation of your requests and applications, and provision of feedback to you
  • Ensuring the security and functioning of the platform

4. Legal Basis

Your personal data is processed automatically on the legal grounds of 'establishment or performance of a contract' (PDPL Article 5/2-c) for the provision of membership services and 'legitimate interests of the data controller' (Article 5/2-f) for platform operations. Disclosure of your profile information to members abroad is based solely on your explicit consent after being informed of potential risks (Article 9/6-a).

Data Transfer (Abroad)

Since the platform servers are located in Turkey, your personal data is stored domestically. Your profile information (name, expertise, contact details) is disclosed to members abroad only upon your separate explicit consent. This access covers colleagues in Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan; the Board has not issued an 'Adequacy Decision' regarding these countries and their data protection standards may differ from Turkey's. Withholding this approval does not prevent your membership, and you may withdraw this consent at any time.

For multilingual presentation of site content, only content texts (news, newsletters, announcements) are transmitted to translation services; personal data of members is not sent to these services. Fonts are served from our own servers and visitor data is not transferred to third parties.

6. Retention Period

Your personal data will be retained for the duration required by the processing purpose and the statute of limitations periods provided for in the relevant legislation; if the purpose ceases to exist, it will be deleted, destroyed or anonymized.

7. Your Rights (PDPL Article 11)

By applying to the data controller, you have the right to:

  • Learn whether your personal data is being processed
  • Request information about it if it is being processed
  • Learn whether it is being used in accordance with its purpose
  • Request correction if it is incomplete or incorrectly processed
  • Request deletion or destruction
  • Request restriction of processing and object to it

You may submit your requests through the contact channels listed above.

8. Cookies

The platform may use technically necessary cookies to ensure its functioning. If marketing tracking cookies are used, this text will be updated and you will be notified separately.

9. Explicit Consent

By approving the platform membership/application form, you give your explicit consent to the processing of your personal data described in this text for the specified purposes. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
